I am researching the different OBD2 gauges and can't find the info I am looking for. I have a s/c '04 miata and I want to be able to monitor knock through the interceptor. Does anyone know if knock (or knock retard) is viewable through this?

It's something that I'd like to add (if it's available via the OBD2 port) but we haven't had one of these in our shop yet to evaluate. Now that the weather is better I should be able to get one in here. Remind me in a couple weeks if you haven't heard back.

Do you know for a fact that this is available through the diagnostic port?

Todd

I have a global scan tool that can do real time data. It only shows ign adv as far as any kind of spark data. Is it safe to assume that the interceptor will read the same data available on the scan tool?

If this scan tool reads what are called enhanced parameters, which are manufacturer specific, and still cannot read knock retard, then it is possible that it is not available.

Our gauge can read ign. advance, that is a generic parameter. If this tool of yours only reads basic stuff like mph, coolant temp, fuel trims, O2 sensors, then it probably only reading generic parameters.

Ok, just did a quick check and on an '06 you can get knock retard which means we can also display it with a little work. The 2004 should be just the same. I'll try to get something done here soon, I've received a lot of requests for the Miata. Thanks.

Todd

Any progress with this? 2005 was the last year for the NB. The NC started in '06 with a different engine and possible OS.

Still looking for a local car. Are you a member of a Miata forum? A post indicating that we're looking for a vehicle to check out would help us. They'd get a free gauge out of it for about an hour of their time. We don't change or alter anything in the PCM, just look at the data stream.

We're located in North Ridgeville, Oh, about 20 miles west of Cleveland.
